“My mother was told that she could not have a child, so after a miscarriage, a non-religious woman prayed for a child and she got me. She said she gave me to God when I was born,” said West.
God Child has done countless collaboration appearances (hip- hop and poetry), a duet album (poetry) and one solo album (poetry). He has enjoyed live performances on the East Coast, which includes some of the most respected poetry spots in the world. He has had several television appearances and worked with numerous artists in Virginia: 13 of Nazareth, DJ Vex, DJ Midday and DJ Steve Nyce. Godchild has also performed with 13, Humza the 7th Sun, Mar Hill, Queen Sheba and Trish Doolin.
God Child feels his work is “inspiring, there’s a message. I’ve been told that I say what most people can’t put into words.
“I am a well-rounded lyricist, jack of all trades but master of none. There’s so many that get in line and add on to what’s there. I feel like I provide an open space for listeners, not just those that can relate because we have the same background, but because we at a human level can relate with our vices and our victories.”
