TRU LEGEND
Anthony Vigo, also known by his stage name "Tru Legend," was born on August 19, 1988 in Queens, NY. Tru has a passion for expressing Hip Hop through his art of rapping and has been doing so since age 9. He moved to Virginia Beach, VA in 1993, because his mother didn't want him growing up around the drugs and gangs that were in the city.
Once in Virginia he entered his first talent show, at age 13, where he won 1st place at the Kempsville Recreation Center, in 02'. Tru is known for his great freestyle ability, tough lyrical style and battling skills. He wanted to make a name for himself and demonstrate to people that if you gave him a mic he could rock it, so he started battling and free styling. Once in high school, he began expanding his expression of Hip-Hop through writing songs and poems. He has also expressed his talent through several community performances at his church and family reunions.
Being influenced by the late greats: Notorious BIG, Big Pun, Big L and rapper NAS, Tru, knew music was in his blood and he started to take it more serious than ever. Also while in high school he started battling more against other Emcee's and recording and producing his own tracks. Once the industry became more about money than about skills he felt that he did not want to be as big as other artists and be overcome by the industry; so he decided to stay underground. He has since realized that it was time for a change and Hip-Hop needed him; being true to Hip-Hop he knew he could not turn his back on something that he loves so much.
In the fall of 2010 he met executive producer and Emcee, Ghetto Prince, at CSK (Craig Smith Karate/Kickboxing), where they both express their other talent of kickboxing. When Ghetto and Tru soon realized the love of Hip-Hop they shared, they began collaborating and Ghetto became Tru's producer and mentor. A few months later Tru signed to the GPP Global Music Label. Tru has made several appearances at local clubs and shows, showcasing his works with Ghetto Prince; the most recent performances including Shakra's Night Club in Va Beach, and the 2010 Hip-Hop Week at Langely Air Force Base.
He is currently working on his first album on the label entitled "Undisputed" and hopes to have it released soon. Tru is dedicated to real Hip-Hop and lives by the quote, "God gave me many gifts and with one of them I'm going to demonstrate to the whole world that I am the most complete EMCEE...That's a Promise!"
